[Every Friday #18] > José Feliciano – Golden Lady {1974}

A couple of days ago I posted a link about a Stevie Wonder documentary on the most excellent Arte TV, which is quite recommendable and inspired me for this week’s TFTW. You’d be hard-pressed to find an artist that had a comparable run of essential albums as …

… Stevie Wonder from 1972 (Music Of My Mind) to 1976 (Songs In The Key Of Life) – absolutely mindblowng stuff. Each song on any of the five albums in that time span is amazing and belong in anyone’s heart. Now, to record a cover version of any Stevie Wonder tune is not an easy endeavour and actually making it better than the OG is basically impossible. But in my opinion this is exactly the case with Jose Feliciano’s version of ‘Golden Lady’ and to my ears by far the best tune he ever recorded. If you don’t know it, prepare to have your socks blown off.
